Za’atar Manaeesh



A flatbread topped with a mixture of olive oil and zaatar. You can eat it as is or add topping inside it and eat it. I love adding eggs inside and wrapping it for a morning breakfast.


  • 1/2 tbsp active dry yeast

  • 1/2 tbsp sugar

  • 1/2 cup warm water

  • 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1/4 cup olive oil

  • 1/3 cup olive oil

  • 1/3 cup zaatar seasoning


  1. In a bowl, mix yeast, sugar, and warm water. Set to the side for 10 minutes.

  2. In another bowl, combine flour and salt. Add your yeast mixture to flour mixture with oil and once mixed, cover and let rise on kitchen counter for 1 hour.

  3. While that rests, make your zaatar mixture with olive oil and set aside.

  4. Divide dough into equal parts (makes 4-6 individual pieces)

  5. Dust your work area with flour.

  6. Roll your dough into circles. Make sure it is not too thin or too thick and top with zaatar and olive oil mixture.

  7. Bake for 5 minutes on 450 degrees then rotate it and bake for another 5 minutes.
